How MORU Was Born from Culture, Passion & a Dream to Build Something My Own
Warm Welcome, Friends!
Have you ever dreamed of creating your own fashion brand from scratch — with no blueprint, just a deep passion for style and purpose?
That’s exactly how MORU, our women’s handbag brand, came to life.
Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of how I built MORU — a brand that fuses Japanese minimalism, Indian vibrance, and global practicality. It all started with a simple idea and a heartfelt dream.
If you're thinking of starting your own fashion label — or if you just love hearing real stories of women building meaningful things — then this one’s for you.
Welcome to the world of MORU, where every thread tells an untold story and every design challenges the ordinary. This is not just a brand — it's a bold narrative in the making.
👜 Where It All Began:
I grew up in Muscat, Oman, with deep family roots in Rajasthan, India. Surrounded by stories of trade, textiles, and international markets — business was in my blood. My family ran an import-export company for over two decades.
But building a brand from the ground up? That was personal.
✈ Shifting Worlds, Finding Identity:
After returning to India for my education, I worked in marketing, finance, and business development with multinational companies. But despite all the experience, I craved something more — something of my own.
Something that brought together:
- My love for elegance
- My need for practicality
- And my passion for global design
That’s when MORU started forming — not as a product, but as a feeling. A desire to create something that blended Japanese sensibility, Indian emotion, and international function.
💼 The Spark Behind MORU
I was constantly on the hunt for a handbag that matched my lifestyle — something I could take to:
- A business meeting
- A short trip
- A casual family gathering
But I couldn’t find one bag that was stylish, functional, durable, and elegant all at once.
So, I decided to create it.
That’s how MORU was born — a fashion brand designed not to follow trends, but to solve real problems.
Our first product was more than just a bag — it was a solution. I envisioned a piece that was:
- Classy enough for meetings
- Spacious enough for travel
- Practical for daily use
And that’s how the MORU Vintage Top Handle Tote Bag came to life — crafted from a PU body with a soft polyester lining, featuring multiple compartments, elegant structure, and a no-nonsense finish.

✨ Every MORU Piece Is:
- Functional
- Versatile
- A reflection of the lifestyle of today’s modern woman.
🌏 Designing for Different People, Places & Purposes
Living in Hong Kong, maintaining strong roots with India, and interacting with customers around the world taught me something vital:
Fashion isn't just about trends — it's about taste, context, and culture.
Here’s how we design with intention:
- Japan: Minimal, compact totes with clean lines and neutral tones
- India: Bold colors and spacious interiors that celebrate vibrancy
- Europe & the U.S.: Timeless classics with structured finishes and modern functionality
🔧 The Challenges That Shaped Us
Every rejection, every failed sample, every tough factory visit — they were all part of the journey.
What kept me going?
The belief that women deserve bags that do more — that support their ambition, adapt to their lifestyle, and look incredible while doing it.
💡 What MORU Stands For Today
Today, MORU is more than just a fashion label.
It’s a bridge between cultures, a commitment to meaningful design, and a journey that continues to evolve.
Our PU leather bags mimic the look and feel of premium leather — without the steep price tag.
We design handbags for every kind of woman and every kind of lifestyle.
💬 Real Talk: The Struggles No One Sees
Behind the scenes?
- Factory visits that went nowhere
- Color mismatches that delayed launches
- Rejected samples and endless tweaks
But I stayed focused — because I knew every zipper, every strap, and every finish mattered.
What matters most is how a woman feels when she carries a MORU bag.
